Newsday

During spring 2008, I participated in the Washington Center for Politics & Journalism's semester program - which arranged for my placement as an intern in Newsday's Washington, D.C. bureau. The bureau had only an editor and two reporters when I arrived, so the editor assigned me to cover Capitol Hill during my internship at the newspaper.

Between February and May, I was responsible for covering New York's two U.S. senators and Long Island's five members of Congress. I assisted with other political and government news as necessary. Those four months in Washington solidified my desire to become a political journalist.
