Kristen M. Clark  •  Journalist

Lansing State Journal

I worked for the Lansing State Journal as the newspaper's lead state government reporter from September 2012 and November 2013.

My responsibilities included coverage of the Michigan  Legislature, Gov. Rick Snyder's administration and issues affecting the state's 50,000 employees, many of whom live in the Lansing area.

I focused on investigative and enterprise stories that highlighted issues other media weren't covering or that delved deeper into the news of the day.

Timeline: "Right to work comes to Michigan"  •  March 28, 2013  •  Within just one week in late 2012, Michigan Republican leaders announced their support for right-to-work legislation, introduced bills on the House and Senate floors, voted to approve them and the governor had signed them into law. The frenzied process drew thousands of demonstrators to the Michigan Capitol for rallies on Dec. 6 and Dec. 11, drawing national attention. This is how those events unfolded.
